Jigging can be a very fun experience and bring you many surprises. We encounter 1 such experience last Saturday at PD. Waves was horrible it was anywhere between 1-1.5m waves. We tried many spots through out the day and our Tekong namely Apek told us that the wind was not giving us any chance of fishing properly. 80g jig was the minimum requirement and i even went up to 150g. I have tried 75g slow cranky but the more I jig the further it went.
Luckily, we manage to salvage a couple. My friend Michael had a table size grouper to bring home. Apek manage to land a very nice size triple tail for good eating and i manage to land a very unexpected fish.. A puffer fish and it’s a big boy… we estimated it to be at least 3.0 kg but some say more.
We took the photo as quickly as possible and release it back to the water. It was great fun.
The 20lbs Seaknight Tri-Poseidon X4 braid was hardly tested while lugging this lunker from a depth of 40m.
